~Appearence~
Yao has long dark brown hair that is mainly pulled into a low braided ponytail. Like the other men serving in palaces. It is only taken out of its binding when he retires for the night or when he bathes. His hair reaches to his knees when both out and braided and was not to be cut. This hairstyle was called queue. His eyes are a shade of amber-brown that always seemed to be filled with happiness or compassion. His figure is quite femine, being smooth skinned and slender, he is often confused for a woman, a concubine, the empress etc. by outsiders. For formal occassions, Yao will don his crown (shown in the profile picture) or a variety of caps and a complete elaboratly designed hanfu garment. Made of the finest of silk, he has a collection of differently designed hanfus, each with different patterns and colours. Yao wears little jewllery, consisting of a few jade rings and a gold dragon necklace. He has only been recently coronated as the death of his father was quite sudden. How he had died is a mystery. People often suspect poison but it is not yet known. Yao is often thought of as weak, due to his fragile looks. He is actually quite strong both physically and intellectually. He is a master swordsmen and martial artist. Though he will try and avoid using such tactics whenever violence occurs. He is one that bruises and scars easily. Yao carries a sword whenever he travels. Though if he is not, it is tucked somewhere inside his study. He does not travel with too many guards, especially in the palace. Only about 2 or 3 guards accompany him outside and 1 rarely following him in the palace. When he leaves the palace, he tries to dress as plainly as he can, wearing only a 2 or 3 layer robe. Along with a grey hooded cloak. Overall, Yao is more similar to his mother(A concubine) in both personality and looks. Many often wonder how he is related to his father in the first place. Yao's mother was the only one out of both the empress and the other concubines who had given birth to a boy. Though she later passed away during complications at birth.
~Personality~
Unlike his father and grandfather, Yao is a compassionate, caring and oh so kind emperor. He does his best to keep optimistic as well as tending to his people's needs. Though he is quick to lose his patience if you push enough of his buttons. Yao is one for culture and has always had an interest in poetry, music, dance and art. He was taught how to play an erhu when he was younger and always enjoys a moment of playing. He is a strong willed type of character and will continue fighting back whenever the moment calls. He dislikes the use of concubines and refuses to select some, let alone be wed against his advisors words. Yao is not one for such base desires and spends most of his time reading, writing or tending to the country's needs. He is thought to be innocent due to this and is sometimes teased. He is does not care too much for other's opinions and avoids any of these discussions. Yao does his best to act mature so to set a good example. He manages most of the time but his family and close friends will know that he can act childish or throw a hissy fit at any moment. He is quite bold though and does not care of loosing his life, fortune or his position. Yao would glady do anything for the safety of his country, people and family. People think of him as a bit careless but he soon proves them wrong. He avoids taking after his father's rule and hopes that the land will be at peace under his rule. Along with his down to Earth personality, he isn't religious but rather more superstitious. He has a growing interest for mainly dragons and other mythical creatures.
~Headcannons~

Yao is the emperor of China, set around the Qing Dynasty. His father has recently passed away and he has now suceeded the throne.
~"China..? Excuse me? My name is Yao aru"
Yao is not China, so he is not immortal. He has only recently turned 19.
~"A wedding aru? Not another one..."
Yao is not one for parties, festivals, weddings or anything involving a lot of celebration.
~"What year? Oh well..."
This AU is based in the Qing Dynasty ((1644–1912)), the Qing Dynasty was the last imperial dynasty of China. (Not to be confused with the Qin Dynasty) Thus, meaning that the Boxer Rebellion and the Opium Wars are quite close. As well as the establishment of the People's Republic of China.

Bon anniversaire Yao! I 'ope you 'ave a wonderful birthday!
'Ultimate good' sat on a bench, eating ice cream and smiling brightly. His eyes glittered, there were bishi sparkles hovering around his head, and his face was a bit flushed due to the summer heat of Tokyo. His fire-red hair was just as fluffy as always, nearly looking like a lion's mane, and was extremely soft looking. His sparkling, emerald green --with red pupils -- eyes stared at his ice cream, in which was being held by his large, red gauntlets.
Francoise was daydreaming,she was humming her favourite song and lookin up the sky.As she wasn't looking forward french woman bumped into Yao."Why bonjour there,pardon i didn't saw you."she said and smiled
"H-Happy Birthdayy!" he muttered before quickly prancing away
"Eh?" Yao blinked before smiling. "Aiya.. Thank you so much aru!"
